Hi Gilbert,
You can add a box around the text by clicking the paint bucket and choosing a color. Note, that the box is transparent by default, so make sure you slide the transparency slider so that it is no longer opaque.
We will be adding some other options such as text-shadow soon, but for now, this is the way to take care of this issue.
