Problems with timeline and merging down

HelpdeskCategory: QuestionsProblems with timeline and merging down
Lisa DeAngelis asked 4 years ago

Hi,
I am editing a video together, and when I created a new empty block so I could split up the text of the previous block.
When I merged down the text I wanted to split into the new empty box, the timeline of the boxes got very screwed up, and now I can’t change the times or move things around as the timing on the new block starts later than when it ends. A friend of mine told me she had this problem the other week but that it was fixed. Can you please help?

Hi Lisa,
Thanks for reporting this. That feature is very new, so I appreciate the feedback and will resolve it immediately for you and see if I can figure out what happened as well.
One moment.

Ok Lisa, I think I found and solved the problem. Can you check and let me know? I assume this is on your most recent video you were working on? “Behavior Creates Culture”

Yes it is that project, but the timeline is still incorrect. the block starts at 4.463 and ends at 3.081, and later a block starts at 60.377 and ends at 59.050

Gotcha. OK, pause working on it for a moment, and I will go in and make sure it is all good to go.

Ok, I believe you should be all set. I fixed the issues and also adjusted the timings for you to fit your words. Check it out and let me know if there are any other issues.
Any chance you remember what phrase you were trying to split and where?

To confirm, you first created an empty block and then you tried to merge some text down into that empty block?

Just let me know. If you remember what the text was (one example is fine) that would help me out.

By the way, you don’t have to create an empty block first. If you want to move the text into a new block, click the little down arrow with the line on it.

This will take your selected text and create a new block below or above and put the text into it. No need to create a new one first.

That said, I will run some tests with your scenario and see if I can replicate.

Thanks!
Craig

Lisa, I dug in deeper and found the root issue on this and fixed it.

I am pretty sure that should do it, but if you need anything else or notice anything unusual, please let me know so I can hop on it.

You can email me as well at craigl@clipscribe.com

Thanks!!
