Hi, I’ve filmed a portrait angle video on my iPhone and uploaded it, however, the video now looks stretched – as if I’ve chosen a horizontal/ landscape format. Is there a way of filming portrait and not stretching the aspect on upload? Thanks.
Hey Michelle,
I think I know what is up here and I probably need to clarify this. Did you choose the “shot vertically” option when you uploaded? Even though portrait is “vertical” that option is specifically just for full size vertical videos. i can see how that might be confusing though and will resolve that now.
The reason for this is the system has a hard time identifying vertical/horizontal, but there is not that issue with portrait videos.
So, you can re-upload and just choose the horizontal, or if you want me to try to retrofit it, I can. Just let me know which one.

Actually I take that back… I am going to fix this on the back-end to avoid confusion. Just let me know which video this is and I will retrofit it for you.
LOL. Sorry I keep updating this, but I have to take back everything I said now that I have seen your video.
Your video is strangely encoded. Videos can have 2 different sizes encoded into them.
1. The actual size/resolution.
2. The display size.
Most videos, these numbers should be the same. Your video, however, they are different which is quite unusual.
The actual size is 608X1080.
The display size is 1080X1080.
So, your video is ACTUALLY 608×1080, but the information in your video is telling our encoder to accept that your video is actually square.
This is causing the issue.
So, the problem here is more, where your video is coming from more than anything else. How did you shoot it, what did you use to edit it, etc.
Can you give me more info. on that?
